Hebrew Ulpan at Tel Aviv University
On the TAU campus
Tel Aviv University’s international school runs Hebrew courses all year: intensive four-week ulpans in July, August and January, and 10-week courses in the fall and spring, each worth 5 or 6 credits. They’re open to students, professionals and new olim, and olim enrolled at TAU may be eligible for Student Authority aid for the Summer Ulpan.
What is TAU’s Hebrew ulpan?
TAU’s courses use Israel’s geography, history and current events to teach the language, with the aim of making you confident in everyday conversation. You take a placement exam first; students at level 8 and above can be exempt where ulpan is required. TAU says its Winter Ulpan is one of the few intensive winter programs in Israel for international students.
✓A good fit if you…
- Want a university Hebrew course that earns credits
- Can study intensively for a month in summer or winter
- Are, or will be, a student at TAU
- Are an oleh at TAU who may get Student Authority aid for the Summer Ulpan
!Think twice if you…
- Need a student visa for the ulpan alone. TAU says most ulpan-only students won’t qualify.
- Need evening classes around a day job. The fall course meets mornings.
- Want a free course. Olim should use Ulpan Aleph first.
